Moab 2008

Dallas, Will, Dallas' little brother Beau, and I spent the Memorial Day weekend in Moab, UT. While it seemed the rest of Utah dealt with rainstorms, we had perfect weather! It was mid 70's and partly cloudy the whole weekend. Not too hot, not too cold. We had so much fun being able to do whatever we wanted while we were there- since it was just the 4 of us, it was easy to decide on something. Here are some of the highlights:

Beau doing wheelies on the Hell's Revenge trail. He only rolled the wheeler twice that whole trail. Ha ha!

Dallas and Will riding in the water on Hell's Revenge.

Hiking to Delicate Arch. I even took a turn carrying our little man.

Two of my very favorite things.

Our Family.

Campfires! It wouldn't be Memorial Day without a hot dog.

Cutest brother-in-law ever. We kept calling Will "Beau" all weekend... oops.

Dallas can climb that- Pritchet Trail.

I can climb, too. Don't you love the "cherry" helmet? So sweet.

Our man-made-winch that was made of tow strap, Dallas and Aaron- Pritchet Trail.

My new favorite trail, the Moab Rim Trail. Lots of hills, lots of slick rock.

Will and I hiking down Moab Rim Trail. Will didn't want to ride anymore- he just wanted a nap.

If you don't know him by now...

Will was tagged by little Mollie Bradley, so here are 8 things you may or may not know about our little guy.
1. Will has been making car sounds since he was about 6 months old. His Grandma Kristie bought him a little playschool truck, and it was all over since then. Now he makes a plethora of vehicle sounds, and they are usually different for each type.
2. Will used to have eczema really bad on his face when he was a baby. When he was only about 2 1/2 months old he scratched it so bad that half of his forehead was scratched off. It was so SAD! Thankfully he now only has eczema on his legs, and it is pretty easy to control.
3. Will can count to one. I know, we are so proud.
4. When we sing "Old McDonald" the only animal Will wants to sing about is a horse. He will even say it and make the sounds.
5. Will has a temper. (He gets it from his Mom. I wish I could blame it on Dallas, but I can't). When he gets mad, whatever is in his hands will get thrown. Always.
6. Will is obsessed with belly buttons. Much to the dismay of his sweet friend McKenzie, he looks for them on other people. He doesn't understand what "inappropriate" means yet. We hope he will soon, but for now it's just cute.
7. When Will was born, I thought he was HUGE. All of our family outside of the room were expecting some monstrous child because they kept hearing me say how huge he was. It turns out he was only 7 lbs 12 oz.
8. When Will was finally named, I found out from Dallas' friend's parents. Dallas refused to talk about names we would name our baby until he saw him. (Really, really frustrating for me). Dallas was leaving the hospital to let our dogs out and ran into the Hansen's and told them that he was named "William Bentley Nicoll". They told me when they came to say hi and meet our new boy. Good thing I liked it!

Will tags McKenzie Harvey, Lauren Hansen, Tyler Pulley, Adelaide Geddes and Jane Bassett.

Happy Birthday, Amy!

Who knew that 24 would be so wonderful?

Dustin Ryan Morris, Jan. 7,1984- May 19, 2007

"They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies. Nor spirits ever be divided, that love and live in the same divine principle, the root and record of their friendship" -William Penn

Our hearts are very tender today. Exactly one year ago today, one of our very best friends, Dustin Morris, died of a drug overdose. A day hasn't gone by that we haven't thought of him. Each month that goes by I make a tick mark in my mind hoping that one day I will get to the month where the pain is no longer there. It hasn't happened. I don't think it ever will. When a life is taken in such a fast and senseless way it is hard to come to a place of acceptance. I am constantly wishing that I could have fixed something, that I could have stopped it from happening. The will of the Lord is hard to see in these circumstances, but I know that it is there. I am so thankful of my knowledge of the afterlife. I know we will see Dustin again. I am also thankful for the comfort of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I feel his presence in my life every day, pushing me along and helping me to be a better person. Although I am helpless and cannot do any "fixing", I know that He can. He can fix Dustin just as He has fixed me. We love you Dustin. Until we meet again....

To answer questions...

A few of you have posted some comments asking questions about my trip to New York. So, to answer them...
NO. I am not going with Dallas.
To some this seems crazy. To us, it's perfect. Let's face it- Dallas is not a theater guy. The only shows he goes to involve my cousin Laura (figure that one out). He is also not a city person. Put him on a four wheeler in the mountains and he's happy. Surround him with fast paced people, dirty streets, honking horns and high rises, and he would rather stay in the hotel and watch The O'Reily Factor. It's the gruesome truth.
I am actually going to NYC with my Mom! I can't wait to bustle all over the busy city with my Mom. She's like me; when we are on vacation we don't want to sleep. We want to play. We are going with a trip from Davis High where my friend Andra (and former teacher) teaches drama. It will be so fun because a lot of the kids I worked with this year for Shakespeare will also be coming.
What am I most excited for in New York?
The fashion. There's something about those Fendi's and Manolo Blahnik's that draw me in... I know I can't afford it, but you better believe I will be taking pictures of me in them.
Don't get me wrong, seeing Wicked will be... well, wicked.

New York Nightmares

The nightmares have officially started. I have been trying really hard not to get too excited for my trip to New York City next month, simply because my dreams start to get really wacky when I get excited about something like this. Apparently seeing Andra and Ryan last week made me think too much about my trip. Since then I have had two nightmares regarding my much anticipated vacation... The first was that I ended up going to New York with Jon and Kate Plus 8. Yes, it's true. The trip consisted of buying mandarin oranges in buckets and spending all of my money on diapers. The next was me rushing to buy my plain ticket because for some reason the travel agent forgot to book one for me. I got to the airport and bought one, only to find out that the plane left an hour earlier. Let's hope these don't come to fruition, shall we?

Tyler and Laura McAllister

Last Thursday we had the chance to attend the Salt Lake Temple where Laura Wilson was sealed to Tyler McAllister. It was a PERFECT day. Temple Square was breathtaking, and so was the bride and groom. There were too many family pictures that I wanted to post, so I just did a slideshow. Laura's dress was so beautiful- probably the most gorgeous dress I have ever seen. So, check it out! We had fun. Well, most of us did anyway...

East Canyon

The beautiful weather the past couple of days has been so wonderful! We have been lucky enough to spend quite a bit of time outside riding the four wheeler (or climbing all over it in Will's case), planting my flower bed, painting the shutters on our house, and we even managed to meet my parents and little brother Clay in East Canyon. Summer, here we come!

Jazz vs. Rockets (4-2)

For those of you that didn't know, I am a pretty big Jazz fan. My husband gets embarrassed because of all the yelling and screaming during the games (as well as calling the opposing team uncalled for names- nothing too naughty, I like to think they are deserving. Ie... Yao Ming is a mutant). All of that yelling and screaming certainly paid off. Let's just have a moment of silence for this beautiful face...

On to other news... My sister Cami came to Heber with my niece and nephew today, and we had a total blast! Festivities included making baby shower invitations, visiting Honeysuckles (home of the greatest suckers EVER!), the park, taking baths and playing in the toilet. Oh- and taking baths AGAIN with diapers on. As you can imagine- it was a blast. Thanks for being the best sister in the world, Cami! I love you.
