Quite the Scare

On Tuesday Dallas and I had quite the scare.
Dallas was in Grandma Kaiserman's backyard repairing her fence, I was inside playing a game of Scrabble, and Will and Scooter were in and out playing. I would check on Will when he was outside when it wasn't my turn.
However, in the space of about 3 minutes, Will and Scooter all but vanished.
We looked everyplace close. I hopped in my car and drove around. Dallas and Grandma K. were on foot searching in back yards. Neighbors were out looking as well when they heard us calling for him.
We couldn't find him.
It was the longest 20 minutes I have ever experienced.
Then Grandpa Kaiserman drove up to the top of the street and saw our little boy by a canal being held by a couple that was out walking, and they were talking to a police officer. He called Dallas and we were up to get him in a flash.
In just a few minutes Will had ended up three blocks away. I couldn't believe how far he had gone so quickly. I hugged him on the ground sobbing while Dallas filled out the police report. Will had no idea what was going on; all he could say was "Mom, Scootie ran away!"
Now those "Hold on to Dear Life" commercials mean even more when they say, "Don't just be there, be aware." I'm so glad he was okay.

I wish I knew what I were doing...

I saw these words on my Academic Profile and started crying:

Academic Standing: Senior

Right now, I hate that I'm taking a break from school for awhile. I hate it. But I feel like I have no choice. Who quits when they're a senior? Oh yeah, ME.

PS- 4.0 is my favorite number.

32 Weeks

I wish I had something more interesting/funny to post, but in all honesty our new baby is pretty much all that is on my mind these days. I'm now 32 weeks, and this morning while I was walking my hospital called to pre-register me for delivery.
Seriously?! I still have awhile, but at the same time, I can't believe I'm close enough to necessitate "pre-registration."

I guess I am past the monthly appointment phase and on to bi-weekly.
I am definitely past the "honeymoon" phase of pregnancy and I'm feeling the aches and pains in my pelvis and ribs... and throat from heartburn. (Let's hope that heartburn means our baby girl will come out with hair like her big brother did).

I also have a tendency to lose my balance- on a flat surface none the less... and at that it is usually in my kitchen. (Good thing it is small and if I fall a counter or fridge will catch me.)

As for the little things that add happiness to my life and keep my mind off of the baby for at least a few minutes:
  • Dallas and I are both done with school for a few weeks! Dallas returns June 24th (yes, 5 days before I'm due), but it's only for one class so hopefully he won't be slammed.
  • This weekend is Girl's Day with my Mom and she's paying for massages and lunch. Really, I couldn't be more excited for this! Mom, and sisters, and massages; all is still right in the world.
  • I still feel like I'm holding my breath on this, but Will is potty trained! It's a miracle really. He's had one accident in the last 4 days, and has finally gotten the hang of going #2 in the potty. (Joy, your days are coming, I just know it!!!!!)
  • Thank goodness that we've actually had some new episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Who else can't wait for the 100th episode of Grey's this week?
  • I love free Redbox Mondays.
  • My sister finds out if she is pregnant with a boy or a girl in just 2 days... now I just need to convince her to spill the beans to me because they are going to keep it a secret.
  • Cub Scouts. I love my calling. Nine year old boys aren't so bad if seen for only one hour/week :o). Plus I have the best partner in the world!
  • Grades should be posted by the end of this week................. I hope I still have a 4.0.
  • Lastly, our weekly family activities. Dallas and I planned a list of things we want to do as a family for every week until the baby comes. Last week was the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point, and this week is the Hogle Zoo. Below are pictures from last weeks adventure:

This is probably the best belly picture I have right now- it was taken on Saturday.
Will thought we were going to the Dinosaur ZOO. He was frightened a few times and I had to tell him we were just seeing bones and no real dinosaurs.
This fake dinosaur scared the soup out of my little man. It took much coercion to get him to stand by it for a picture.

T-Rex and some handsome boys.

Ah, Dallas.

Sometimes, well, most the time if I speak the truth, Dallas makes me laugh. Hard. Like today.

The following was said while shopping at Target:
Dallas: We're going to have a baby.
Me: Yes.
Dallas: Like, a real baby. Not a kid. A baby. One you have to carry around and everything.

While leaving said Target:
Dallas: Do you hear that baby crying?
Me: Yes.
Dallas: That's going to be you... at home... with a crying baby. And I'll be at work. (With a semi-smug smile on his face).

I do love him so.

Call me crazy, but do you want to know what one of the little joys in my life is? Pushing the spellcheck button and seeing the phrase "no misspellings found." I love that. I'm sure Kalie would appreciate it as well.

Monochromatic

I pulled my summer clothes out of the tote and washed and hung them up today. I think I might need to branch out a bit.

In Case You Need Some Good News

  • I saw the Ice Cream Truck last Friday at my friend Erin's house. This means it is summer. I remember wearing a little wrist pocket with $1.25 in it so I could buy the ice cream I wanted and I wouldn't be caught unprepared. (Thanks to Wendy Wilson for letting me use that all those years ago!)

  • I found out that I have so much extra credit in my History class that I could opt out of the final and get 94% in the class. (Which I still won't do because I have to get 95% to get an A, but that means I won't be studying hardly at all).

  • Sonic cream slushes cure any bad day.

  • So does the "Tigger Game" if you are a two year old.

  • This isn't really "good news" but it's funny and noteworthy: Will has now started making up excuses. Such as, "I can't do it. It's hard for me.", "I'm tired/sleepy/hungry" and last but not least "No Mommy! That's a bad idea!"

  • I finally saw a good movie! It has felt like ages. So, you should see Seven Pounds with Will Smith.

  • Osh Kosh is having their big $5 sale.

  • So is pretty much every other kid store at the Park City Outlet Mall.

  • And last but not least, I had the insight to make brownies yesterday. That means I get to go upstairs and have brownies and ice cream while I watch a free movie courtesy of Redbox. Ahhh, this is the life.

Saying Goodbye

When someone you love passes away, it is never easy to deal with. On Monday my Aunt Norma suffered a massive stroke at work. They were able to restart her heart on the way to the hospital, but she suffered severe brain damage. She passed away today, April 15th, after never regaining consciousness after the stroke.

Death makes your breath catch in your throat.

This Easter Sunday I was thinking about how incredibly blessed my family is. We are a part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

When things started looking down at the beginning of this week, I weighed my blessings. Then, I came upon this post on someone else's blog; it is from a children's bible, and it's simple words told me all I needed to hear.

They nailed Jesus to the cross.

"Father, forgive them, " Jesus gasped. "They don't understand what they are doing."

"You say you have come to rescue us!" people shouted. "But you can't even rescue yourself!"

But they were wrong. Jesus could have rescued himself. A legion of angels would have flown to his side-if he'd called.

"If you were really the Son of God, you could just climb down off that cross!" they said.

And of course they were right. Jesus could have just climbed down. Actually, he could have just said a word and made it all stop. Like when he healed the little girl. And stilled the storm. And fed 5000 people.

But Jesus stayed.

You see, they didn't understand. It wasn't the nails that kept Jesus there.

It was love.

Christ indeed loves us. He lives. He rescued each one of us, and he broke the bands of death that each person on this earth will be able to walk again just as He does.

We'll miss you, Norma. No one could ever forget your smile, or how your laugh would burst from your chest infecting every person in the room. Until another day...

Good Old Fashioned Wyoming Easter

So what does a good old fashioned Wyoming Easter include???

Watching soccer games when there are still several inches of snow on the ground.

Coloring Easter Eggs in the mostly-buff.

And last, but certainly not least, killing raccoons in the late hours of the night.

Last Trimester

I've officially reached my last trimester. It feels really good to be this far along. In the last day or so I think the baby has rolled over so her legs and arms are facing my belly instead of my back. I literally feel CONSTANT movement and it is incredible. I feel really great right now... if only it would last.

Clothes hide so much of your belly during pregnancy... thank goodness.

I also had to throw this picture in of Will. He is with "Lightning's friends" as he calls them, and he is showing off his "racecar face". He cracks us up all day!
