Quite the Scare

On Tuesday Dallas and I had quite the scare.
Dallas was in Grandma Kaiserman's backyard repairing her fence, I was inside playing a game of Scrabble, and Will and Scooter were in and out playing. I would check on Will when he was outside when it wasn't my turn.
However, in the space of about 3 minutes, Will and Scooter all but vanished.
We looked everyplace close. I hopped in my car and drove around. Dallas and Grandma K. were on foot searching in back yards. Neighbors were out looking as well when they heard us calling for him.
We couldn't find him.
It was the longest 20 minutes I have ever experienced.
Then Grandpa Kaiserman drove up to the top of the street and saw our little boy by a canal being held by a couple that was out walking, and they were talking to a police officer. He called Dallas and we were up to get him in a flash.
In just a few minutes Will had ended up three blocks away. I couldn't believe how far he had gone so quickly. I hugged him on the ground sobbing while Dallas filled out the police report. Will had no idea what was going on; all he could say was "Mom, Scootie ran away!"
Now those "Hold on to Dear Life" commercials mean even more when they say, "Don't just be there, be aware." I'm so glad he was okay.

I cannot imagine what was going through your mind in those 20 minutes. Thank goodness the Lord watches out for his little ones. And thank goodness for nice people who kept him safe. I like the leash idea!

Man, that is so frightening. I've lost a child in the mall once and it is a horrible feeling. I'm glad that there was someone there to help him and prevent him from falling into the canal.

Oh friend! Caleb made a mad dash for an open door a few weeks ago and no one noticed for about 20 seconds and he was already out by the busy road with cars driving by...I started crying and freaking out and am now ultra-paranoid about him getting lost. Empathetic hugs from me!!!

Oh my gosh! That is so scary! We had an experience a lot like that about 2 months ago with Lexi...she took off to a friends house 2 blocks up that busy road. My heart just stopped.

That is the scariest story! I cannot imagine how scared you must have been. I always underestimate Hank's abilities. I am so happy he is ok.

TERRIFYING!!! I am so sorry. We have had our little scares too, but nothing quite like that. Thank heavens for little angels watching out for our precious ones. I am so glad Will is okay.
